Trini held in Egypt for attempting to join IS

A Trinidadian national has been held in Egypt on suspicion of attempting to enter Syria to join the Islamic State group.
Reports say Miguel Pascall, who has been living and studying in the country with his family over the past year, was held by Egyptian authorities recently.
Local Muslims who are personal friends of Pascall and his family are now calling on the state to intervene in the matter.
They say the Government must do all it can to protect this country’s citizens from discrimination.
They also claim that Pascall was not a supporter of Islamic State and was in fact a conservative Muslim who is against the terrorist group.
Nine nationals are currently being detained in Turkey on suspicion of attempting to join the group as well.
The Foreign Affairs Ministry says it has been liaising with Turkish authorities about the status of the nine individuals.
